A little help...?

Hi Everyone,

If you can view this post from you blog window, would you please email me and let me know. I am having trouble with my blog site updating and can't figure out how to fix it. I'm not sure if it's the computer or the blog site itself. So if you could email me and let me know, I can try to figure it out. Or if you have any ideas on why it is doing this, please let me know that as well.

oh and BTW, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHELLY!

HOGWARTS SQUARE

so last night i joined the ranks of several thousand other people in harvard square- turned into harry-ville as the world waited in eager anticipation for THE FINAL BOOK!!!

it turned into a game of trying to capture as many character-impostors as we could.

then it was off to a fancy-schmancy restaurant for HARRY THEMED DINNER! i even had a taste of the lip-smacking butter beer!

then the sorting hat got passed around and guess which house i'm in??? RAVENCLAW!! Whoot!

then it was back out to the middle of the square while we waited outside the doors of THE COOP at Harvard for midnight to strike so that everyone could claim their long-awaited prize!

i however did not get a book. i haven't even finished book 4! i know, i know don't get on my case about it!

all in all it was fun to join the mayhem of the night! mom you would have loved it but been severely disappointed as there weren't as many harry-potter things to do as would have been acceptable for you!

Some More Isaac Pics

So far he has been a really good baby. He wakes up about 1 to 2 times a night and always to eat. He likes to sleep a lot during the day and loves to be held. He's had some problems with jaundice but according to his blood test on Sunday, his levels are still high but within normal range for his age. Maddy still loves to love on him, give him kisses and hold him. We're still working on the being gentle part but I think she's getting it slowly but surely.
P.S. There are more pictures on his website - check it out! http://www.babiesonline.com/babies/b/babybean2/

Dad is in Business - the theater business that is...

My dream has come true. The SunRiver St. George, Inc has accepted my proposal to create my own "Senior" theater here in SunRiver St. George. For those of you who don't know where SunRiver St. George is, it is located just south of St. George, Utah and is an over 55 Senior Golf Course retirement community. Patti and I moved here after we got home from our mission. It have been my dream to open my own theater so I can select the best theater works out there. You see, when Patti and I were at the St. George Musical Theater we could only do musicals. With this new theater we can do it all.

Let me tell you about our new theater. Its name is SunRiver St. George Senior Theater Company and is housed in the SunRiver St. George Recreation Facility. We have a beautiful stage, and a hardwood floor ballroom which will be the seating area. My title is Artistic Director and will be the chairman of the Artistic Board for the next two years. My initial responsibility will be to establish a Board of Directors whose responsibilities will be to finance the theater through gifts, grants, and income. They will be the watchdog over the growth of the theater which will, hopefully, outgrow our current facilities and lead to a new theater complex. The Artistic Board will be made up of professional, semi-professional actors, directors, music directors, choreographers, costume designers, etc. Their job will be to select the productions the theater will perform, select the production staff (directors, choreographers, music directors, etc.) and oversee the professional quality of the productions being presented.
The senior theater concept in the United States is relatively new. There are only about 700 nation-wide. The actors have to be over 55 years old and all the scripts are written for senior actors. Many of the scripts are written in for short vignettes in the 15 to 20 minute duration. Using the same subject matter, multiple of these can be put together to form a show.
This theater will allow people like me who are too old for leading rolls in a standard theater format to find new and exciting rolls as a senior.

I have purchased many senior scripts. I have identified many more to include musicals, reader’s theaters, comedies, murder mysteries, dramas, you name it. This field is exploding. If you want to see what kind of theater is available go to seniortheater.com and you will see just some that are available.

Well that should give you some idea what is in store for me for the next couple of years and then who knows.
Love DAD

GET SOME REST & SOME GOOD DRUGS, BEANS!

YESTERDAY...

i told the kids that i was leaving. they cried, then i cried and we proceeded to do that for a half hour. we held each other, they asked a few questions indicating that they didn't quite understand why i had to go... and then i went and got a dustpan and cleaned up my heart that had shattered into 800 million pieces.

these kids are my best friends out here. we have good times... no correction... GREAT TIMES... there are times i wanted to strangle them... times they probably wanted to strangle me. we laughed every single day. we had serious talks sometimes. and at the end of the day we snuggled up to a good book.

it's not like i will NEVER see them again. i told them i still wanted to be a part of their lives, have sleepovers with them, take them to movies, come to their games and such... and all of this is true. but leaving is still very very hard and this conversation was just the beginning of the ache.

Happy Late 4th of July....

It looks like everyone had a great 4th of July. Our family had a sort of screwball one. Don had a huge deadline looming over him at work, and we had nothing planned for the 4th, so on Monday, July 2nd, the kids and I (minus Ben) took a mini vacation down to St. George to visit Mom and Dad. And we had a great time!

Mom and Dad were the perfect host and hostess as usual. Even being willing to go to Zion Park in the 115 degree weather, but we did spare them at the last minute. We played the Wii. Dad really loved the golf and bowling. We had hamburgers and hotdogs and we even celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary with Dinner and cake.

Dad told some great stories of when he was in the military. And the boys loved spending some one on one time with grandpa. Grandpa even showed us Eragon which we had never seen before and liked. Grandma showed us "Song of the South", a present that Doug had given Mom for her birthday. Seems like every time we started to watch a movie, something would interupt it. So, Dad, you still owe Jared a viewing of "The Hunt for Red October" sometime at your convenience.

Man was it hot, tho. I will pray every night that the power never goes off there during the summer. That would be some misery!

It was way too hot to sit outside and watch fireworks, so when we left Mom and Dad's house that night, we watched the fireworks in the comfort of our car with air conditioning blasting in a vacant lot by our hotel.

The last day of our vacation we spent at 7 peaks water park. I actually went in the water (i ususally don't like to display my rotund bod)! I've never seen the park so crowded. The wave pool was so crowded that you couldn't move without bumping into someone. It was a little scary seeing all these little kids bobbing up and down in the water. A couple of em looked like they were drowning, but it all turned out fine. We really enjoyed our time together and had a lot of fun dumping each other over. Bad news was we did get sunburned even while using SPF 50 baby strength sunscreen. But we are feeling ok now.

It was nice to relax for a few days and just enjoy being together, although we did miss Ben and Don a great deal.

Hey Uncle Doug and Aunt Patty! Happy Anniversary! I didnt know when yours was so I will have to mark it on my calendar for next year. :)
love ya!

The Coolest Fireworks Show in the USA

seriously, believe me or not, but bean-town is a cut above the rest when it comes to their fireworks show.

being in a canoe, on the charles river, listening to the boston pops play, getting rained on, 2 hour round trip canoe adventure and some really great friends were only the precursors for the amazing fireworks show that i watched last night. and i couldn't have asked for better seats... the barge that carries the fireworks was about 200 yards away from us... no other boats blocking the view, no trees, no weird people trying to cram next to us. perfection!

it was even okay that it completely rained on our parade-- i was soaked through to the bone... and wearing white pants (that was quite a view)... it was freezing. but really and truly i would do it all again in the same conditions. and the people i was with made it all worth it.

next year i really would love to have some of my most favorite people here with me on the that canoe-- yes, i mean all of you.

One Week From Today

One week from today little Isaac will be here. Weird!!!! I'm pretty sure of this because Dad gave me a blessing that said that he will come at his appointed time and not before then so one week it is.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MOM AND DAD!

to mom and dad on their 46th wedding anniversary

you are a mom and dad
to more than just one lad (and lass)
you've changed diapers and such
and heard whining way too much
you fought through it all
it took much gall
and now you look back on this great deming fam
and see how it's grown you old grandpa and gram
thanks for giving birth to all us weirdos
some of us have caused a lot of woes
but we love you nonetheless
and we'll try to do our best
to show how much we love you
for it is quite true
that we are who we are all because of you!

how's that for hallmark, huh?
